Manage company data

Learn how to manage your company details, set up business units, and build a multilevel company tree from the Company page.

Updated over a week ago

On the Company page, you can manage your company information, such as the company name, industries, and your company structure.

For companies on the Advanced subscription, the Company page also allows you to create and manage a multilevel organizational tree. This makes it possible to structure your company by business unit, subsidiary, or region and analyze emissions at different organizational levels.

Change the company name and industries

Step 1: Navigate to the Company page.

Step 2: Click the “Edit details” button in the top right corner to open a pop-up menu.

Step 3: Change the details and click “Save”.

What is a business unit?

Business units are the basis for organizing carbon accounting across your company structure. Often, emissions data is linked to a specific part of the organization, such as a subsidiary, region, or department.

When you set up your company structure and add your business units, you can better assign emissions ownership and analyze results more accurately across the organization.

How to define business units

Companies differ in structure and may have multiple subsidiaries, regions, branches, offices, or plants.

Think about how your company owns and manages emissions data internally. In some cases, this may match physical locations. In others, it may follow business units, regions, or subsidiaries.

If your company has a simple structure, you may only need one business unit. If your company has multiple entities or reporting levels, you can structure them in a multilevel company tree for clearer data collection and reporting.

Create your Organizational tree

Step 1: Navigate to the Company page.

Step 2: Click the “+ Add new business unit” button in the top right corner to open a pop-up menu.

Step 3: First, create your top-level parent company. Since this is the first business unit in the structure, leave the Parent field empty.

Step 4: Fill in the business unit details and click “Add”.

Step 5: To add child business units, repeat the same steps and select the relevant parent in the Parent field.
